Chicago Newspaper Offers Obamabilia

The Chicago Sun-Times, which has covered the career of President-elect Barack Obama for more than 15 years, is trotting out a new line of Obama memorabilia as inauguratiion day draws closer.

The most-read newspaper in Chicago announced a mobile phone download of the historic November 5, 2008 Chicago Sun-Times front page to use as the wallpaper for their phone.  Cost of the download is $1.99.  It\'s available by sending a text message with the word OBAMA to 42349. The front page, featuring the President-elect himself with the headline \"Mr. President\", was famously featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show when the talk show hostess held it up for her viewers; later that week she declared \"It was the best paper of all the papers in the world.\"

A Sun-Times news release indicated an \"incredible recent demand for our newspapers and memorabilia\".  The paper is \"stepping up to meet our customers\' desire for more mementos to celebrate this historic occasion,\" said Willie Wilkov, Senior Director, Promotions and Marketing for the Sun-Times News Group. The Sun-Times has launched multiple Obama-inspired products following the record-breaking sale of the day-after newspaper, when the number of street copies sold tripled and became one of the best-selling editions of the Sun-Times.

The Sun-Times is also offering a DVD.  \"This Is Our Moment: Election Night 2008\" will be sold for $10.99 capturing the electric night when Obama was elected to presidency. The 45-minute DVD features coverage of the enormous crowds that filled Grant Park that night, the first speech given by Obama as President-elect to the nation, never-seen photos by Sun-Times staffers of that night and commentary from some of Chicago\'s best newspaper columnists, including Carol Marin, Mary Mitchell and Richard Roeper.
