Obama Autographs, Collectibles Focus for New Magazine

President Obama has been the subject of a Topps trading card set.  Obama autographs are among the most sought-after signatures in the world.  Almost every day, there is a new Obama collectible hitting the market.

His history-making ascension to the White House turned the 44th president into a celebrity. Mickey Mantle aside, Obama might be among the most collected individuals in history.

Now, a new magazine published by Beckett Media LLC, Barack Obama & The U.S. Presidents: A Guide to Collecting, chronicles his meteoric rise in the unlikeliest of arenas, with a focus on the more than $2,400 worth of trading cards (264 and counting) and other memorabilia that bear his likeness.

"His impact on the collecting hobby at large, and the sports collectibles industry in particular, is quite fascinating," Beckett Media Publisher Tracy Hackler said. "The fact that there was enough collectibles content to fill 80 full-color pages speaks volumes about his transcendent appeal."

In addition to starring in his own 90-card Topps set, Obama appears on several traditional sports trading cards from 2008 and 2009 -- including some rare insert cards that have eclipsed $250. His cover appearance on issue No. 583 of The Amazing Spider-man comic was so popular that Marvel Comics produced five variations, the rarest of which is valued at $125.

Beckett Media's Barack Obama & The U.S. Presidents: A Guide to Collecting, covers all of these intriguing nuggets (for example, an Obama autograph is more desirable than those of Ronald Reagan and Theodore Roosevelt), and includes pricing for every presidential trading card ever made.

"The splash Obama has made in the collectibles arena in the last year has been every bit as compelling as anything he has done in real world politics," Hackler says. "Whether or not you agree with his policies, there is no denying his collectable appeal."

The magazine is available on national newsstands now. For more information, to order the magazine online or for a free Barack Obama price guide, visit www.beckett.com/obama.
